I started by taking a sweet family's pictures. God provided BEAUTIFUL weather. Nice!!

Then...I have been waiting to take Kyton's pics. Waiting for what?? The time just got away after his birthday on September 14th. I finally did it. The shirt is almost too small, never worn, but pressed and in my closet waiting. We had fun. We took them at Dad's barn...they (he and Teagen) really gave me their tour. They had the run of the pens so to speak. Great times!!

Easter part 1

Friday night BKJ spent the night with a friend and the boys worked on projects that they got from their Aunt Jana for Christmas!! It was perfect timing though and cute!! Teagen blew up a few of the balloons and then I blew up one and Kyton blew up the rest. We only lost one--the pig. You will see the pig peeking out of the stand--I had to photograph him. They were Martha Stewart kits and came with all of crepe paper stickers and stands. The funniest science experiment we dealt with was that if you didn't have all the stickers on, then the balloons were not balanced and would fall one way or the other!! Notice we put the beak of the duck on wrong, but later fixed it. Too much figuring out on own, but fun. Kyton stayed busy until they were all finished. The turkey is brown, but we could not find a beak--which makes him heavy on the back sooo he falls backward. HeeHee!!

Teagen made he bunny out of the cup at his Easter party at school. Cute huh!! It fit right on our farm. Teagen's has not been finished but we did get a chance and we didn't even get a chance to dye eggs--they are boiled and we have the supplies, but just haven't had the time. I am NOT giving up. It is tradition!!

Meet Blazer

OK so after the hunt, we ate lunch at home (rare) and then headed to Lubbock. Clint was the only one awake after we hit Kress!! We went first to see Granny, Clint's grandmother on his mom's side. She looked great. We had a VERY nice visit. She is working on a quilt. I sooooooo happy for her to be doing that. She is so sweet. Then we headed to Wolfforth to get the steers. We got lessons on supplies, care, and techniques from Leonard and Lyle. They were great!! We ate at Long John Silver's and Kentucky Fried Chicken which put us on the road back home by 7:30. It was definitely dark when we got home. We left the steers at Trey's barn for a few days and were back up to feed them this morning before 7:30. All of us!!

Outcasts United written by Warren St. John is a book that I saw in a flyer that comes from an educational book seller. I always like to see the new books that this particular flyer puts out. I really like to stay connected with the writings of the time. This is a sweet one I just finished over spring break. It is abouta lady named Luma from Jordan that came to the United States to begin a new life. She begins a team of refugee soccer team called the Fugees that has to battle American prejudices and helps try to keep the boys out of gangs and start them on a good path in America. It is a sweet story. I have a copy that of course I bought at half.com if you would like to read it. I would love to share.

Clint busy wit Puerto Rico. Little Dribblers. Catching our breath. No exta expenses this month on credit card that I ADDED!! That is huge. I really am trying to live with what I have. I am much more content. So many avenues speak to me about this precious lesson. I believe in so many ways that God has us here for a higher purpose. No diet drinks...only three in the last three weeks. No not perfect, but working on it. Thank you Jesus!! Still listening to the Radical sermon series. Still focusing on not eating out as mch as I can. Headed to see my sister for spring break!! Here we come Nagol D. Bailey has learned soooooo much!! I am so proud of her.

Basketball

It is that time of year and has been for awhile, but with Bailey playing basketball on Saturdays and having practice twice a week, it really is in full gear. The girls won Area last night by 44 points. GO COWGIRLS!! The cowboys had a practice game today. Bailey played at 12...Rylee at 1 and Craig at 3. We had fun watching cousins play. The Cowboys will play Monday for Bi-District...the Cowgirls on Tuesday for Regional quarterfinals I think. We hope the girls and boys both win...Bailey will play at 4:00 next Saturday afternoon.

I am in TAKS stress mode. March 3rd. Things are fine but will be pleased when that burden will be lifted.

This is the season of Lent. My mind is trying to clear. It was interesting when the other day I found another blog on m'lynn's blog. There is a young girl in Uganda named Katie that really has touched my life this week.

I listened to a sermon she recommended last week. Please remember we are all here for God's purpose and plan. I just want to be the person God wants me to be. Sit a Spell blog discussed adopting a child from Haiti. I feel that is soooooooo noble and what God considers cost not comfort which is what Katie discussed. Ok, I have rambled. Bow's family adventure--you write well, M & J--proud of your writing on the blog, my nephew does a great job on his blog as well. I am the English teacher and I ramble, but anyway. Time is not really on my side in the creative endeavor of this, but I am trying to stay connected. I believe we really need to see sun on my blog...sun to come, but for now the scene is beautiful.

Bailey is doing consumer decision making for 4-H once a week, dance, cheerleader prep class, art and basketball, too. Am I crazy? Why would I allow her to do sooo much? I don't know. I am trying to make the best choices.

I love my family and enjoying it.

Bailey had shots this week, fell pretty good in PE, went to the ortho and fell on her tailbone today. Last Sunday, we were eye to eye and her eyes were taller than mine!!

Teagen is reading and doing math. Things are pretty calm for him which I believe isn't at all that bad. He will be busy soon. I just want to make sure he is getting what we need. He is thinking all the time. Kyton is going to preschool two days a week. They seem to hang in there through all the games. He laughs often which is a great trait.

I hope we all focus on the things God has planned for us. I am thankful for it all. I wish my house was cleaner than it is...Throwing away things would be theraputic.

Goals: walk, no diet drinks, spend less money so we can pay off the Sequoia.

I do notreally like to have the system of school messed up. I know that going to school in the spring gets harder and harder, so I never like snow days initially because they mess up the other days off. Here goes Good Friday off and then now we will have to go on a Saturday. AHH!! But...I am glad to be able to have days unexpectedly to mess things up or fixing things in our lives. It is great to slow down and "play house".
I am reading through the Bible. I do not believe I have ever stuck with it, but I am reading it chronologically and am reading The Message version. I do not really believe in that version, but I like it as I try to read it everyday.
Still trying not to spend money. We have eaten at home as much as we can. If we have meetings in Canyon, we try to eat before or after we go. Trying to make a dent in some debt. I really want to pay off our car (the Sequioa). We will see, but I believe we can.
The kids are doing great. I love to spend time with them encouraging them, helping them grow up. Each is busy in his/her own way.
TAKS preparation, Yearbook, UIL, etc. keeping me really busy! Trying to leave school at school. HAHA!!
I am really enjoying the Pioneer Woman's cookbook. Last Saturday, I made 6 different recipes. Yesterday, two. Today, one. I really have made just about all the recipes I want to from the book. Then I will work on the ones we like. I have repeated eggs in a hole many times, and the puffs twice.

2010 is working well for us. Join us as I have time to post. Clint is gone more lately which leaves less time!!

OK, since we have been back from Dallas at Thanksgiving--we have been soooooooo busy for sure. Dance, art, basketball games for the high school, programs, practices for programs, youth, church, shopping, preparing...but we made it and I can see the counter again, so here is an update. Logan Daniel Shaffner was born November 25, 2009 the day before Thanksgiving. So he was our Thanksgiving and we are very thankful!!!

Bailey placed 1st Intermediate at the Food Show for County which enabled her to be able to go to the District Food Show in Bushland on the 21st. She placed in the top four!! So did Craig in the juniors and Mackenzie got first place in senior Fruits and Vegetables which qualifies her for state in College Station in June. Yeah!

Bailey also placed 2nd in number sense and 2nd in calculator at the UIL event held at Happy Schools last week!! I am so proud for her. She was excited about earning a medal which she will get on Monday morning.

Kyton turned 5 on Monday. We had the Johnson family over on Sunday for Trevor's 20th and Kyton's 5th. We had steaks and a big cookie. I took off the day to spend with Kyton. We headed out and first bought a "college tee" ( I don't know how he and Teagen think it is a college tee, but he was pleased with it.) We then went to Old Navy to find a shirt to have is picture made in (first we need a haircut). Then we went to the toy store. I just hadn't figured out what I could get him, so he got to pick. He also had money from others to get to spend.

Then we headed to Jump N Jive. We were the first ones there and had the run of the place for a while before anyone showed up. Then we went down to Great Harvest Breads and he had a PB and J. We picked up Tryce to play with new toys at MeeMaw and Haw Jim's. Then friends and family showed up and we celebrated with ice cream and ORANGE iced cake. All in all a good day!!

Carrying my Bible

Ok, it has been a really full week of spiritual activities. You should have seen the fellowship hall of our church. We have people everywhere. We even filled up the dining hall main room plus at the camp on our traditional Ceta Canyon picnic that coincided with Dayspring revival. I did enjoy it. The stories really kept people of all ages listening and enjoying. It is great to listen to the boys singing the books of the old testament and new testament. Kyton doesn't even know how to say those words, but sings right along. It was good. Today, we went to the 100th celebration of the First Baptist Church of Happy. I gave 18 plus years to attending there and the people gave soooo much to me...to listen to Bob Miller with his passion for the gospel and the spreading of it sure inspires me. It is our job to tell people about Jesus. Then we have done our job and it is up to people, but we must tell people. Mission work is everywhere. We do not even have to leave our own homes/hometowns. We just have to be prayed up and ready.

Still praying about finances and that God has to be in charge. I cannot figure it all out on my own. No extra purchases. We are really still trying to eat at home as much as we can. I will finish with the groceries I bought and didn't use for two different parties. We can do it!!

Diet Cokes have really been a thorn in my side, more from other people than me. I have no trouble drinking them. I was handed a 12 page report this week from a future student that felt I needed a copy. I only had one yesterday and none today. I can do it. I could save about 500 dollars a year?!!?

Back to the carrying my Bible. I bought a Bible over a year ago to replace the Bible that was coming apart. It just isn't the same. I feel like my old Bible is a great friend and I have missed it. I have been using it this summer. I have carried it to school and revival this week. I believe it has kept me more focused. I just have to make sure and worship God upon reading what is on the inside not just the outside cover.

...Tuesday for the Smallest

Kyton started at Mrs. Janet's Preschool today. MeeMaw took him and picked him up. He was soooooooo excited, but a bit apprehensive. I put a heart in his hand and his dad put one too (not really understanding) but Clint's of course was right in the right spot because he could close his hand and hold it. Mine was out of reach, but with a pink permanent marker. I was anxious to hear how his day went. He had "red" homework and showed me how he could wash his hands. He also ran through the list of rules as he was going off to bed. BIG DAY. He really looks forward to going to MeMe's tomorrow. She calls him number one because he is the oldest. They are going to rodeo. He told his dad he has a big day tomorrow because he had a rodeo. Teagen asked if he needed the paint which is the "roping" stick horse and he told Teagen that they were doing barrels not roping. We'll see.

Teagen still thinking and planning and wanting. Bailey working on attacking homework with a proper attitude. All's well. Great Revival--he even came to school.

Big Kids Start on Monday...

Bailey starting the 6th grade--still changing classes, PE with junior high girls, band (playing trumpet--which is the trumpet Jana played), going to take Dance on Mondays and hopes to continue art with Ms. Gooch in Canyon. She has been a scribe this week for the Revival

Teagen starting 2nd grade. He picked his cute outfit when school shopping. He got a new backpack this year and sports new shoes. He is growing up and wonders about everything. He earned cleats for flag football starting soon he hopes from doing MANY different things around the house this summer including math and reading.

Bailey has worked for the last two years to earn enough money to buy the four wheeler she is sitting on in the picture. I am sooooooooooooo proud of her for being so diligent. It has been a rocky road full of complete disappointment, but the Lord provided. She is very happy!!

Teagen does not like to have his picture made at all, but isn't he sweet!! I think he is. He sure reminds me of his dad right here. I loved being this close.

'Ole BB. Kyton has really wanted to ride BB this summer and without success a couple of times to get him to move. This trip took me feeding him cake as I walked him around the house. He stayed in this same spot for quite a while because he didn't want to move from the shade. SMART.

Putting on the Brakes

As summer comes to a close, I reflect on my days of subatical--I have enjoyed the following (I won't bore you, so I will keep it to the number six which is my favorite)

new pets for the kids--thanks to the Johnsons for the baby frogs--we just saw them today at the mall in little "homes" and I thought wow--there could have been money made in Happy, TX for our friends/family this summer! Thanks also to our friends for the kittens more than once.
My kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Each of them have made special memories for me. Bailey--wow, at 64 inches, she sure is maturing. She has been great this summer--learning to do her own laundry, working cattle with my dad, growing closer to her mom. Teagen has worked to read to his persistent mom. He has made some awesome presents for his family lately with his talent and big heart. We continue the stories before bed which helps each of the boys feel special as we reflect their day. Kyton has grown and has really enjoyed the pets. That is why that is something I have enjoyed. It brings out a fun side in him.
REading--I have read Jodi Picoult, Hawthorne, and now the second book of the Twilight series, My Bible, devotions by Joyce Myer, A book about Nurturing for women
projects--cleaning out and cleaning up my house--I love throwing things that we don't need away, but another project is recycling. Baby blankets for others and Baby Blessing, trying to be smart about spending AND going on vacation--eating at home WAY more
Being outside--Since we planted our trees, I have loved keeping up with the yard. I have had a small garden and flower bed out of our old sand tractor tire rim, and then after talking to friends, I added flowers by the front porch and then Clint added scrubs in front of the garage and then I planted the remainder by the driveway. One more project is to add flowers (already purchased) around the flag pole--just dug up grass tonight in the dark)
Living a healthier life--exercise, 80 ounces of water a day, less food!!

The hardest part is that after working at home Monday a bit and going swimming, we have had a doctor's appointment, hair appointment, school shopping for Bailey and then getting more kitties (THANK YOU FRIENDS!!) yesterday and then up to go this morning with the boys for school shopping. I am beat. I feel that gnawing feeling that I will let my life live me, not me live my life. I really do not want that to happen.

I have enjoyed getting to spend time at home. There really is not routine, but I have really enjoyed working on making meals and that takes time and planning. I don't want school routine to ruin that. I want to hold onto the time I have with the kids before bed. I will try to get them in bed earlier so that we can still have that.

My goal--less projects. My kids and Clint are my projects.

I hope to share pictures of what the kids have done in July and August. We had a great trip. We have had fun with other things as well.

Scripture memory has been a blessing to me as I have helped my kids this summer.

BIG NOTE--I love my husband and am thrilled that I am able to be less stressed with work. He deserves that. We have had a great time. He is special to me each and every day. He is such a part of what is going on too, I just don't mention him as much. 18 years Monday!!

Help Me if you can

I am trying to come up with a good way to teach Bailey to do laundry. I have gathered information about it off the Internet. I have learned some things for my own laundry techniques. I want to know from my friends and family. What is something you would suggest? She will have smaller amount for sure and I haven't had that situation for a while. Is there something you can help me teach her? I also want to help her with doing green laundry, which is hard because you should use full loads. Do I give her anything, like small detergent and softener? I don't want to spend extra money, but want to treat it in a special way. Why? Because I don't want to be an slave driver--I want to be a guiding MOM. Thanks for your help already.

Rambling on Friday

OK, well I am experimenting with font colors. Fun. I have almost baked 7 loaves of bread. The zucchini was out of the garden that yeilded three loaves and then I made banana bread to avoid wasting the bananas.

It had been 18 days since we had eaten out as a family and we ended up eating at Taco Villa last night. We have been to Donut Stop twice because of various celebrations and reasons, but no eating out for all five of us for that amount of time. Bailey commented about wow, we are eating out, but not being sarcastic!! Yeah.

I am trying Karen's heavenly pie tonight for Mom's birthday and a chicken enchilada casserole from the back of a cheese package. We'll see!! I have enjoyed cooking.

This week I am supposed to be working on arms--1 day. Not eating after dinner. I have enjoyed this healthier thinking. I have also made myself drink at least 80 oz. of water a day and have done rather well.

I used my chimeria to make a little fire for roasting the usual. I sure took me a while, but I am not giving up and had a nice little fire. The first of the summer. I really enjoy that. I have worked on projects this week: a checkbook for Clint, a present for Baby Blessing, scrapbook cards for Mom and one for Mary. Anyway...a bit different week.

I love life. It sure will be hard to go back to school, but it is my calling and I will be fine. I hope to cut back on unnecessary projects to make me less stressed this year to be better for my family. We'll see. Pictures to come.

Healthy Habits/Financial Diet

Still no eating out!! We ventured to try the meal of rice and beans. I knew Teagen would think that was not so good, but he had a great attitude about it. Bailey didn't think she wanted it again for lunch the next day, but Kyton said' "I love these beans!!!" They added ketchup. It is amazing that ketchup can fix anything.

Habits for the week: core exercises, good breakfast--I believe I have no trouble with breakfast--I love it, keep walking, small portions, veggies and fruit still. I love this.

We have only eaten out with MeeMaw on our annual outing to watch the youth musical in Amarillo. The musical this year was Big River. You know after really tryind not to spend money, when you do, it seems sooooooo expensive. We had a great time. It was Bailey, Teagen, MeeMaw and me. Kyton stayed with Trevor.

My healthy habits for the week are doing OK. I have done two of the three days of cardio--dance with Denise Austin. I walk the other days. The fruits and veggie has been pretty good. I hope zucchini bread counts for that this morning--oh yeah, I had fruit juice too. I have tried to cut back my portions, too.

My project for the week besides cleaning the bedroom, bathroom and closet of ours is to paint the bathroom. I HATE PAINTING CEILINGS, but it seems crazy not to do it while am at it. This is the only big paint project of the year. I plan to repaint a little kids chair that used to be in our church when I was little and a set of shelves to try out for the boys dresser. We'll see.

PS. I know this is silly, but we have avoided using paper towels this week too. No cokes from Jackies--not to boycott Jackie, just avoiding spending money. He has great ice!!

The cats all have different personalities. Teagen has now named his cat Rascal. The boy acts differently than the girls.

Ok this is taking forever to upload. I tried my new little video camera, but it wouldn't upload. I am now trying to do one from my camera. Sometimes our Internet is slow, but this is extra slow. Like all morning long. I was trying to figure out how to share so that we can share when Baby Blessing comes. So far...frustrating. But it finally worked!!!!!!!!!!!

June for the kids--pets

Summer pets have/had invaded our "home". Kyton went to Tryce's and came back with three of the many frogs that the other Johnsons found in their yard after our rains. They found a home in the purple-lidded container that Bailey had for her hampster. Teagen ended up with two frogs the next day at swimming and had a blue-lidded container purchased for the few more days that we owned them. We weren't for sure what to feed them. We looked on the Internet and found out that they ate little ants, maggots, even fish food. So we fed them fish food. When Clint and I got back from Arizona after MeeMaw and Haw Jim housed the pets for two days, the smell was bad from the fish food really. So, I mowed Friday and after mowing a portion of the yard and setting up water, I had them bring their frogs. We had a grand release. They boys weren't too upset. (at all)

One day Jeana said they had 13 kittens and wondered if we wanted any. I said yes. So...she brought them one day during swimming the same week of the frogs. She brought three. I didn't tell the kids. They were all excited. Each of them of course have one. They are all three gray, but all three different too. Kyton has fallen in love with the kitten and has spent MANY times outside holding her. There are two girls and one boy. The boys drew to see who named the boy, but Kyton had been holding this girl and ended up making that his kitten. He named her Trap. Not sure where he got that. Teagen named his Tom and Bailey has yet to name hers. She likes to give it thought for sure. Kyton even went to sleep crying last night after coming in from the movies because he didn't get to hold her enough!!

I love mowing the yard right now. We have designated a yard with our little evergreen trees. I have watered and mowed and have really enjoyed the fresh-cut lawn. It is therapeutic for me. Just wanted to share what was on my mind.

Ok Summer is so cool. Not literally right now. I have enjoyed looking at blogs this morning. I really think the medium is charming. I am thrilled Clay Fite is at least out of the hospital and my friend wrote about how the Internet makes it possible to follow such situations and learn more about others. I have thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with my friend and my little cousin this way. God really has worked in this area for me. How soothing it can be! I am cleaning out and thoroughly cleaning my house. I am now working in the kitchen. I love my home because it is my home and I love the challenge to live in what could be considered a small space at times for all 5 of us and all of our things. I so believe it is a lesson in that things CANNOT be important, because they have to move on out to make room for what is important. I look at so many things as a hinderance because they only add to the clutter. I myself still get caught up in things, especially clothes and jewelry. I really know that the rules also apply to me. I have always loved to take things home from events, vacations, etc. to try to hold onto the event or the memory. It is the people that matter. I am soooooooo thrilled that I have a husband to put up with my roller coaster of a personality. THANK YOU GOD FOR CLINT!!

This morning I was on the front porch reading blogs and Kyton appeared at the door. He is such a loving kid. He put on his shoes and socks (long of course these days) and came out and drew on the sidewalk. He can make me feel so loved. THank you for that too.

This is such a random blog. I love the fact that I have a summer to recoup. I just clicked on next blog this morning and ran into so many interesting blogs that relate to me. One was an art teacher that was talking about how being a teacher just sucks the life right out of you--it is soooooo true. I am thrilled to get the chance to regroup and look at life from a different angle.

My kids are reading, memorizing scripture and Bible facts AND swimming and so much more.

This morning after looking at my friend Laura's blog, I decided that for Father's Day I would like to write a 10 things I learned from my Dad(dy) in his card. Before I share those, I want to give a tribute and love for a man that was not my dad but at stock shows was a fill in. My dad was in charge of the animals per say and George was in charge of the kids. I miss George and his was not even my dad. My heart reaches out to you Laura on Father's Day. I can only write what I learned from my dad and be thankful that I can still walk up and hug him. I do not forget that this and many other days have to be hard for you. George was a great man and I love you!!

10 things Dad(dy) taught me--

1. Pay attention to and love little children

2. how to balance and checkbook and that you should do it!!

3. 7+5=12 7x 8=56

4. to take a nap

5. sing and praise the Lord with all your heart

Also, I wanted to share this picture of my kitchen as I took the curtains down to wash (I sure hope they survive, they may have needed to be dry cleaned, but don't really want to spend the money or the time). I love the openess and beauty of simplicity. Just wanted to share.

I went Monday to WT to listen to Maya Angelou. She was great!! She talked about reading and educating yourself constantly AND about being a rainbow in someone else's cloud. It was awesome to hear an author of her caliber.

This was from a speech similar to what we heard.

Angelou continued by stating the importance of making poetry an integral part of
everyone’s lives, which she claims has always been a motivating factor for her.
“During those years that I didn’t speak, I memorized Shakespeare, Langston
Hughes, Longfellow, Countee Cullen and Paul Lawrence Dunbar. We look to poetry
for encouragement.”
She said that poetry offers support for those who are
going through hard times, because one can read it and know that someone else has
already experienced something just as difficult, and, more importantly, made it
through.

She concluded by urging everyone to make the most out of life,
since “it’s given to us to live but once. The noblest cause in the world is the
liberation of the human mind. Know that you all have the privilege of becoming a
rainbow in the clouds.”

Spring Snow

We had all our gear--barely washed--but ready to go when it snowed. We did have school so we did not lose a day. We did not use our snow day. We had a great time. Bailey had her last regular basketball game that morning and she knew we needed to get back so their was snow left to play in. We had a great time--and the pictures show it.

Blizzard--March 27th

They had been predicting a blizzard all week. All the kids expected to get the day off. Amarillo and many other schools called school off last night when it was close to 70 degrees, but we did not. We got up and went to school and about 9:30 it began to snow and blow--school was called about 11:00. We came home and ate our sandwiches that either we got at school or we took to school. Bailey got spacerson the bottom and will get braces on the bottom next Thursday. She ate strawberry ice cream and is doing much better. We had pan fried pork chops and potatoes, carrots and salad selects salad. This afternoon, the boys and I made sugar cookies. The theme of the week is the extra burn flavor--first rice-r-roni (added a bit of flavor), enchiladas a bit overdone and tonight (only one side) charred pork chops--didn't ruin it tonight. I really want to do better--just too many other things going on.

I was so busy trying to get the kids in ski school that I didn't even get pics the first day. Bailey and Teagen both went to ski school and did well. Bailey was able to go up the lift and down the bunny slope. One cool thing was the conveyor belt that the school used to get people up the mountain a little ways. Teagen liked it and did well. The lunch wasn't his favorite. She shucked his coat immediately and I picked up his toboggan as we went to check on him at lunch and we lost gloves too!! He did well though. Because I wasn't skiing, I didn't want him to be someone else's charge that day so I gave him the choice to go to all day ski school or no skiing at all. It was a tough choice for him, but he chose to spend the day with us. Bailey with Wes Stribling's help and Joli's willingness skied the second day!!

Mace and Chad have been willing to work with the first and second grade boys for a few practices and then for two games. Teagen is number 5 and has scored both games. The second graders have been great to help the first graders and everyone on the team score. They played Valley both times with one being in Happy and one being in Valley (this last Tuesday night) He plays great defense!!

Bailey has not only had games most Saturdays since the first of February, but she has also had practice twice a week too. We had a game on Thursday against Valley and then two Saturdays has been two games. She has learned so much. She has scored at games and last week during he first game I watched something that I could help her with. I challenged her with money per rebound. She ended up with five that game, but no shots. (Not because she hadn't tried!!)

Ok so I thought that once a month would be great! BUT, here we are Spring Break--March 15th. Things are great. Basketball every weekend. Art and dance on Mondays. High school basketball playoffs. I can't even seem to get laundry done or clean the house for sure, so blogging just didn't seem right. I have enjoyed life. God is so so good. This is a time of lent. I gave up fountain diet cokes and limit myself to one DC in the morning. So really what does that have to do with anything. I want to be connected with the Easter season. I do believe that I can constantly be better. I think it is great to be disciplined. I'm not sure I am in any way. No. I'm sure I am, but hard to put my finger on exactly what because the needs of other people are more important to me. I don't know where the time goes. I want to be a great wife and mother. That is not something that happens very easily.

I feel that I have just rambled and rambled. Just trying to help myself work through thoughts in my mind.

Still focusing on exercising some, stretching to keep my siadic(sp) nerve from getting too tight.

16 random things

This is a challenge from my sweet young cousin that I have loved to get to know. Here it is

1. I like to watch the Bachelor even though I think that the pretense of the show is ridiculous at best. This form of dating is very different from what I could imagine. Not me.

2. I don't like to watch him kiss each one of the women. Too public--too many women. I love my husband so much. He is a perfect guy for me. He makes me smile.

3. I thanked God today for Jana's trumpet as I was wheeling it to the car because that is one less thing we have to pay for.

4. Kyton only needs so much sleep. It is hard to get him to go to sleep when he has had a nap. Lately, we end the day with not only books that we read which is something we started after back surgery. Before then, I think I thought I had more things to do than to STOP and read, but also, Kyton and I tell each other a "real story" as he calls it. I tell him each day provides a new story. I hope we keep that up.

5. Bailey looks more like a lady everyday and I don't like that. I am not ready for her to grow up.

6. My hair is longer than it has been in a while and I resisted the temptation to cut it in a swing cut because my hair girl helped me with a good cut.

7. My hair is so gray underneath. Ouch.

8. I love sixlets.

9. I have grown spiritually while teaching the tween Sunday school class. I like to challenge them to learn where to find books of the Bible.

10. I can't believe so many people are spending so much on new TVs. They are becoming so big that we are out of balance. I of course have my huge TV (not flat screen) 27 inch? on at the moment in the backdrop of the laptop.

11. I am reading Jodi Picoult book called Change of Heart which includes a gament of religions which makes me think--truly want to be close to God, the scriptures and know what I believe.

12. TAKS is not a way to guide a curriculum, but I feel that my kids need a basis for taking the test. They don't like to write essays, they are hard to teach, and I am thankful I don't have more of them to read.

13. Teagen just read a list of 194 words so he could read AR. He read me his first book and tears were there. I hae such pride in my kids.

14. We just made bracelets for Bailey and Teagen's valentine gift for their friends. We got our idea from Family Fun magazine.

15. I read a children's book about a librarian in Basra saving 30,000 books and my school kids think the idea of saving books is obsurd. Why does our society have to make reading and books so invaluable for the young. Ouch. I then asked a group of them to name something they would risk their lives to save. It will be interesting to read their thoughts.

16. I know that I don't have anything besides my family that are that important--really. I believe my religous beliefs would be something I would want to think I would, but am I really there? I hope I can search my soul and find out, yet will I really ever know? Time will tell, huh?

New Year's Resolution. I can't seem to keep up with the regular family responsibilities. The blog has been so fun, but I am now only going to enter info on a monthly basis. I hope to get a regular time. I love doing it, but the activities right now are overwhelming. Just stay tuned and you will see the activities of a busy family of five. I can't wait until summer--more time to do it.

Bailey's Art Show

Bailey goes to the little red barn in Canyon for art class one day a week. These are the pictures that she did. She always does a portfolio--with her name on it. She says that they used water color paints and then wrapped with celophane to give the crinkle effect. She then cut out the planets and mountains to put on the black paper. There is a spatter effect for stars. The color wheel is a white piece of paper that she drew with a pencil. She then colored with sharpies. She told me yesterday that she drewnear the center a painter's pallete shape, then a circle, then a crown and finally, waivy. I am proud of her. ONe project that she worked on, but did not complete quite yet was a family of babies, dogs and mom that she used texture to make their clothes. We'll see!!

Christmas Day--Jesus's Birthday Celebration

The kids woke up at 7 oclock. They opened presents after looking at what Santa brought. We had breakfast sort of and then played computer games, Leapster, DS games, carpet skated, and then looked to see what Jerry Sims brought. They played and played with the truck and pickup and trailer all morning. Bailey worked on magic tricks--came up with about 12. Bailey did a magic show and the boys favorite was pulling Rambo (the rabbit) out of the hat. She had them going that he really disappeared. She prepared a show and did it for Mom, Dad, Grandaddy and Louese. We had traditional cinnamon rolls, sausage balls, egg casserole, etc. Clint didn't get to go with us. We missed him. Each person at Mom's opened one gift since we already did at Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve

We had a great day of preparation and then went to the Christmas Eve service at church. At Jody and Lisa's we had great soup and the fixings. We had a mass opening of gifts and then the big boys played with my kids as much as they could stand. We tried to get home so Santa could come. Clint went right to bed not feeling well at all.

Teagen sang three songs VERY WELL. And then Bailey played the part of Dancer in "Broadway Santa". Bailey also played a solo in the Christmas concert.

Kyton got to ring an orange bell--his favorite color. Teagen rang a bell and played Jesus in their part of the program. He read "J" and "K" for the alphabet of Christmas. Kyton could tell you the "K" part, "K is for kindness shown without reason." He even said it Christmas morning. Bailey was Mary in their part of the program. It was a sweet program for a packed church... and then Santa came.
